Marine & Boat Water Makers
Posted by Pure Aqua, Inc. on Jul 12th 2021
Water makers are designed for heavy or continuous service in marine applications, where quality and dependable performance are key. A high capacity marine water maker is built to be safe, easy to operate, and easy to maintain. They include innovative features such as the optional touch screen interfaces, network capable controls, and automated maintenance functions provide an easy, reliable resource for fresh water production in the most extreme conditions.
A water maker can also be customized for cruise ships, cargo ships, oil tankers, workboats, fishing boats, offshore rigs, mega-yachts, and others.
Pure Aqua designs marine water makers that excel in recovering higher percentages of the feed water as good quality product water. Boiler feed quality may be obtained by using specialized Pure Aqua equipment designed for that purpose, even from seawater feed containing up to 50,000 PPM TDS.
Pure Aqua, Inc. has extensive experience manufacturing the high quality marine water makers for applications regarding desalting seawater all around the world. Let us put that experience to work for your benefit!
For over 10 years, Pure Aqua, Inc. has developed innovative water makers and purification plants for some of the most challenging environments in the middle of the ocean, offshore water treatment applications, deserts, and disaster areas.
The Importance of a Marine Water Maker on your Boat
As potable water becomes increasingly scarce, seawater desalination is becoming more common. Advanced technology such as marine water makers provides potable water from any seawater source.
We incorporate cutting-edge technology to deliver the best water makers for offshore applications through a compact design which is ideal for minimal space applications. A common problem for desalination on boats and cruises are operating larger systems on an area with low amounts of space, which our system solves. Furthermore, monitoring the system's performance is made easier through a fully automatic remote microprocessor controller.
These marine water makers utilize energy recovery devices to ensure high water recovery and incorporate piston pumps (with pump efficiency of 90+) for smaller units. Low energy demand helps to reduce operational costs and a small carbon emission footprint is great for environmental friendliness.
Our water maker's user-friendly design and durable construction allows it to preserve a high level of performance through the ocean's harshest conditions. Simple access to main system components for simple and low maintenance.
With a marine water maker aboard your boat, there is no need to worry about planning boating activities or make any stops. Sailing directly to your destination over very long distances will be made easy to do without even needing freshwater onboard, taking up space.
Whether you're using it for drinking, showering or cleaning your boat, buying a Pure Aqua water maker offers endless opportunities to reduce costs and maximize spare time. For this reason, how does any sailor not use their own water maker us?
Our water makers produce greater amounts of water per square inch than just about every other system in the world. There is 17 percent more filtration surface area as compared to standard membranes through using high performance membranes. As a result, the degree of membranes and space required by competing brands to install them is much lower.
What are the Best Systems to use for Seawater Treatment?
Industrial Seawater RO:
For Seawater treatment, our Industrial Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination Systems SWI are our largest systems with the range of 8,000 to 660,000 GPD of permeate water. The SWI system comes standard with standard pre-treatment and post-treatment systems.
Commercial Seawater RO:
Commercial Seawater Reverse Osmosis Systems SWC are compact and efficient RO systems that make use of seawater and turns it into potable, clean water for human consumption and commercial use. The SWC system has a capacity of 380 to 7,600 GPD and is able to treat feedwater with a maximum TDS of 45,000 ppm.
Types of Seawater Reverse Osmosis Systems
Typical SWRO systems—like single pass and one-stage—can treat seawater with TDS levels ranging from 15,000—at the lowest end of the spectrum—all the way to 65,000 ppm. Depending on the use for the product water, as well as the TDS levels in the reject and permeate water, these systems can have an additional RO system to further filter water for specific needs.
The implementation of an additional system is referred to as double pass RO and two stage RO systems; and they are used to produce either more high-quality water, or more permeate water, respectively.
- Single and Double Pass RO: Single Pass Reverse Osmosis—like stated above—are virtually indifferent from a typical SWRO system. Additional systems can be implemented based on the water treatment needs of the client.
- Double Pass Reverse Osmosis takes the filtered product water produced from the first RO system then puts it through a second RO system to filter the water as much as possible; creating a highly-purified permeate water.
- One and Two Stage RO: One Stage Reverse Osmosis isn’t much different from single pass RO; the water is run through the system, treated, and put to use.
- Two Stage Reverse Osmosis takes the filtered-out reject water created as a byproduct of the first RO system and puts it through a second RO system to filter the feed water an additional time and produce as much permeate water as possible.
Because seawater naturally has very high levels of TDS, some reject water may not be treated and filtered an additional time. Seawater, brine, and other high-salinity sources exceeding 70,000 ppm are exceedingly difficult to treat and purify.
