Post pH

Generally, it is known that reverse osmosis lowers the ph in permeate water, which requires the addition of some caustic soda to neutralize the pH to an acceptable level.  Other than increasing pH, caustic soda also works in converting large amounts of carbon dioxide into alkaline materials with a range of concentrations. Greater concentrations might be necessitated with extremely poor quality feed water.
