Antiscalant

Antiscalant

Chemical-dosing-systems

DEFINITION

Antiscalant chemicals are utilized as pretreatment when injected into untreated water before it is sent to reverse osmosis systems. Antiscalant is important in helping the membranes used in the RO system from being exposed to scale forming (causing fouling) by delaying the reaction of magnesium, bicarbonate, and calcium. As a result, the reverse osmosis process is completed in a shorter duration, thus avoiding fouling.

Using calculators is beneficial to ascertain the amount of antiscalant is needed to add into your feedwater before sending it to the RO system. You must enter the values for day tank concentration, volume, and the feed flow of your system on the antiscalant dosing calculator to find the exact value.
