Nanofiltration-systems

DEFINITION

The performance of the nanofiltration system is dependent upon several different operating factors such as feed temperature, feed intake, salt concentration, flow rate, and osmotic pressure. The quality of membranes used is one of the most important parameters that affects the overall performance of any NF system under the same operating conditions.

Osmotic pressure is the driving force of nanofiltration system by basing the pressure differentials and concentration of impurities on either side of the membranes. When the osmotic pressure is greater than the energy required to push the concentrated solute through the membranes, then the nanofiltration process will be unable to purify the water. Please use our calculator in order to ascertain the osmotic pressure differentials and the amount of energy needed to force the water through the semi-permeable membranes.
