Nanofiltration (NF) is a membrane separation type of water treatment process  that shares several reverse osmosis features (RO). NF offers terrific rejection of multivalent ions, such as calcium, and low rejection of organic molecules and elements, such as chloride, unlike RO, which has high rejection of nearly all dissolved salts.
