Multi-media filters are designed to eliminate large amounts of suspended particles from water and service feed water with a turbidity of up to 20 NTU. During the filtration process, tiny particles go down to smaller and finer media levels. The filters include cracks within them which catch particles as low as 10 microns. Bigger particulates are rejected and are caught on top of the filtration bed. Multi-media filters are often times backwashed when there is an increase in pressure differential or when a timer begins. A Water Softener is designed to eliminate minerals that cause hardness in water. Water softener systems enhances the work and lengthens the life span of laundry machines, pipelines, solar heating systems, air conditioning units and many other water-based applications.
Date: February 2012
Country: Kuwait
System/Product: Water Filtration
Flow Rate: 46,000 GPD
Component & Brands:
- Duplex multimedia filters (MF-1000 series, 20" diameter steek tanks)
- Water softener (SF-100S series, 30" steel tank, 102,240 GPD)
- Aquamatic tanks
- Digital stagers
- Interconnecting piping and wiring
[custom-specifications]
Water hardness can produce negative outcomes such as clogged pipes, damaged boilers, and heated exchangers. Many industrial, commercial and household water systems unfortunately suffer from lime scale deposits because of hard water. Lime scale build-up subjects pipes to blockage and lowers the efficiency of hot boilers, tanks, and laundry machines.

[custom-features]
Pure Aqua successfully manufactured and supplied water filtration equipment to a major company in Kuwait to remove particulates, organics, odor, and hardness from well water. The water filtration equipment is composed of multimedia filters and a water softener. The multi-media filters came with a duplex arrangement and were selected from our MF-1000 Series. The equipment was composed of two 20" diameter steel tanks, Aquamatic valves and digital stagers along with interconnecting piping and wiring. Each tank was designed to handle 46,000 GPD. The water softener was composed of a 30" steel tank, Aquamatic valves, and digital stagers. It was selected from our SF-100S series to handle a flow rate of 102,240 GPD. Since their startup, the water filtration equipment have been operating accordingly with minimal trouble-shooting. For satisfactory results, the equipment utilized the following grades of media: Silica Sand, Anthracite, and Resin.
Silica Sand is a widely used effective filter media due to its capability of pulling back precipitates containing contaminants. It is specifically graded to be used in water filtration plants. Its fundamental features include filter sand size, hardness, and angularity. These features promise proper filtration.
Anthracite is a distinguished black coal that has been perceived as a significant water treatment since the ancient times. Anthracite is crushed to be utilized as a medium density filtration media. Its crushed shape permits a small amount of sediments to deeply penetrate into the bed. It has been found that Anthracite has extensive filter runs, fewer head loss, and reduced backwash rates.
Resin is made from organic polymer substrate and has an insoluble support structure that often times comes in the shape of small beads. Resin's structure includes many pores on the surface which are sites with easily trapped and released ions. Resin is used in many processes such as separation, purification, and decontamination.
