Any foreign component in a substance, for example in water. These contaminants are sometimes occurring in natural environments or human created ones. Some forms of chemical contaminants consist of:

  • Salts
  • Bleach
  • Toxins
  • Metals
  • Nitrogen
  • Pesticides
  • Drugs

Organic contaminants are made up of biological substances in water that are also reffered to as microbiological contaminants or microbes.
