Application: Drinking Water
This seawater reverse osmosis system for drinking water use includes feed and backwash pump, media filter, dechlorination, antiscalant and post-chlorination dosing systems. The feed water is coming from a beach well seawater and the capacity of this system is 15,000 GPD.
This system is designed to treat feed water of up to 42,000 PPM and produce 15,000 GPD. As the water enters the RO system through an inlet port, an electric ball valve is required to be prompt open to allow the feed through the system which can be done by pressing the power button on the microprocessor control panel. Assuming there is sufficient pressure as the water enters the system, which can be determined by the pressure switch, the motor pump will start and begin to boost pressure of the feed up to 900 PSI. Feed water continues through duplex stainless steel that is highly resistant to corrosion and will enter the pressure vessel which incidentally is rated to 1,000 PSI and manufactured by Protec Pressure Vessels US. Inside the pressure vessel are 4 SWC5 seawater RO membrane elements manufactured by Hydranautics in California, US. Once the feed water enters the pressure vessel and the membranes, there is a control valve which can be closed to increase the pressure within the system and basically force feed through the membrane elements. The process can be monitored by the reject and permeate meters on the control panel. To keep system as corrosive free as possible, a freshwater flush option which consists of a solenoid valve that flushes the system of seawater when the system is off is included. The system is also equipped with a programmable variable frequency drive used to control the pumps particularly within guidelines like temp and pressure.
The SW-15K-1480 system was selected from our SWI Series produce 15,000 GPD. The components of this project include the following systems:

Water Challenges: Producing safe drinking water in Yemen has not been an easy feat for decades as the very limited water sources in the country continue to diminish. One source of water that has remained in abundance is the seawater (Red Sea) that exists alongside Yemen. The country has gone to great measures to start utilizing this water source for freshwater production through the usage of desalination. Desalination, or seawater reverse osmosis uses high pressure pumps to force seawater through semi-permeable membranes that filter out the high concentrations of salt and minerals to produce much cleaner and safer water. The treated water that comes out of the system is capable of consuming as drinking water and is being increasingly relied upon from the population.
