NEUTRALIZATION

The addition of substances to neutralize water, so that it is neither acid, nor basic. Neutralization does not specifically mean a pH of 7.0, it just means the equivalent point of an acid-base reaction. Neutralization is a certain kind of chemical reaction that includes a strong base and acid which react with one another to create sodium and hydrogen. As the base and acid are reacting to each other quantitatively, the neutralization process will ultimately end without an overflow of hydrogen or hydroxide ions existing within the solution.
