SOFT WATER

Any water that does not contain large concentrations of the dissolved minerals calcium or magnesium. The only prevalent ions in large quantities within soft water are sodium ions. Soft water can occur naturally as it does from rainfall. However, the softness of rainwater quickly begins to harden when it travels through the ground and its specific waterways. As the water flows through the ground surfaces, it begins accumulating minerals which increases the hardness levels. While this makes the water unsafe for many uses, it actually provides some benefits to the water such as by making it more healthier and tasteful to drink. Soft water on the other hand has a more salty taste and is generally not preferable for drinking.
