EVAPOTRANSPIRATION

The loss of water from the soil through vaporizing, both by direct evaporation and by transpiration from plants. Evapotranspiration is the process that sees a reduction of water from soil through an evaporation process from the soil surface. Transpiration also plays a role which occurs from the leaves of the plants developing on it. Temperature, solar radiation, soil moisture, wind, and atmospheric vapor pressure are some of the most important factors that influence the rate of evapotranspiration. The vast majority of water that is lost from the soil during crop development is due to evapotranspiration. For this reason, irrigation applications are planned per estimates from evapotranspiration rates.
