Microfiltration filters contain pore sizes of around 0.1 microns, so when the process of microfiltration is occuring there are a huge number of biological organisms being eradicated, but with viruses staying the same in the water. It should be noted that microfiltration does have the ability to eliminate dissolved solids before they are first adsorbed by activated carbon or coagulation.
