NON-POINT SOURCES

Diffuse water pollution sources without a specific point of origin. The pollutants are generally carried off the land by storm water. Common non-point sources are agriculture and atmospheric disposal. Non-point sources lead to pollution through the utilization of insecticides and herbicides from residential and agricultural areas, including an overuse of fertilization. Energy generation and urban runoff creation also increase the amount of grease, oil and unsafe chemicals. Particles from unkept or preserved construction locations, forested lands, and diminishing streambanks.
