The larger concentration of suspended solids present results in a reduction in water quality. This outcome occurs in the form of turbidity which produces undesirable effects such as color alterations, smell, and taste issues in the water. Scaling can also result due to suspended solids and significantly hampers the performance of equipment and utilities utilized across industries. For these reasons, multimedia filtration systems are depended upon within applications that require high quality treated water. This Pretreatment Equipment for an RO system was shipped to a company in Panama. Included in the treatment was a 14” FRP multimedia filtration tank, a 14” FRP activated carbon filter, 14” Birm filter all with 7000 Fleck Valves. The three filters were designed to remove different kinds of contaminants before passing through a reverse osmosis system at a rate of 11 GPM. For instance the removal of foul odder, taste, organic contaminates, and iron and manganese. Additionally an antiscalant chemical dosing system was included to prevent fouling of the SW30-2540 Filmtec membranes. Other components in the pretreatment are 5 micron spun polypropylene sediment filters and their Big Blue housing.
