SECONDARY TREATMENT

The removal or reduction of contaminants and BOD of effluent from primary wastewater treatment. Secondary treatment is interchangeably used with other terms such as biological treatment since it encompasses the use of microorganisms like fungi, bacteria, and organic substances or waste. The main purpose of secondary treatment is to ensure a level of effluent quality through the wastewater treatment plant by eliminating dissolved materials, suspended solids, and other unwanted impurities.
