Water Challenges: In order to produce the clear ice needed for ice rinks, there needs to be low TDS within the water that was converted into ice. The TDS level, along with other factors such as hardness and odor is a measurement on the quality of the water, which determines the quality of the ice. As water freezes, the impurities within it becomes trapped inside as the surface hardens into a crystalline structure. A cloudy texture within the ice indicates a substantial amount of impurities which is unwanted for ice rinks or many other applications such as drinking water. For this reason, lower TDS levels are needed to ensure clarity within the ice.

Applied Solution: Ice rinks are dependent on water treatment solutions for the production of ultra pure water, which simultaneously is used to produce cleaner and clearer ice. Pure Aqua manufactures reverse osmosis systems that work to produce purer, less foggy, and crystal-clear ice due to the removal of the majority of contaminants from the water. The ice is also produced with a tougher texture that would normally be the case and takes longer to melt.
