Water Challenges: Industrial seawater reverse osmosis systems are becoming a common usage in labor camps due to the increasing need for freshwater supplies in areas where there are very limited options. Since labor camps do not have the resources to provide its inhabitants with a continuous flow of clean water, they are depending on water treatment solutions to purify nearby water sources such as the ocean. The sea provides an almost unlimited provision of water, but contains too high a concentration of salt and minerals to be used as drinking water. So, labor camps are utilizing industrial seawater reverse osmosis systems to convert the water from the ocean into fresh and potable, clean water that is suitable for consumption.

Applied Solution: Pure Aqua manufactured and supplied an industrial seawater reverse osmosis system for major water treatment company in Colombia. Complete with advanced microprocessor control panel, pre and post filtration, this system includes multimedia filter to remove particulate through anthracite gravel with a periodical backwash function. An antiscalant or antifoulant chemical dosing system proceeds the media filtration and is followed by the seawater reverse osmosis system. Subsequently, a booster pump is implemented to increase the pressure to approximately 900 PSI which is injected into the pressure vessels. The RO membranes will recover 30% of the feed water in terms of volume and the quality of the product water is expected to be approximately 400 PPM TDS from raw water feed of approximately 36,000 PPM TDS. After the product water exits the RO skid it will be treated by a UV Sterilizer.

[custom-usage]

Seawater reverse osmosis systems are built for highly inconsumable water sources like the sea, removing enormous amounts of salt and other contaminants from them. Denying salts, particulates, and other contaminants from carrying on, water molecules are only permitted through the tiny pores of the membrane. Fresh, purified water emerges on the permeate side and is ready to be collected while salt, particulates, and other contaminants are discharged into a drain from the concentrate side.
