What is Leachate
Leachate is defined as a liquid that has dissolved or absorbed biologically hazardous compounds that can then be released into the atmosphere. It's most often associated with the disposal of solid and chemical wastes.
Leachate is formed through the mixture of rainfall or other water sources and solid waste landfill. As the liquid permeates through the waste, it absorbs dissolved minerals and solids. Leachate also develops due to the latent moisture within the waste itself, such as insufficient closed landfills and the entry of groundwater. Leachate if went untreated is highly detrimental to the environment, especially when infiltrating a body of water.

Leachate treatment is important for the elimination of harmful contaminants and organic substances that are capable of negatively impacting water sources such as surface water, groundwater, which ultimately can damage human health. The chemical make-up and characteristics of leachate differs between landfill sites. Landfill leachate treatment is necessary to remove various organics and contaminants that can have an environmental impact on groundwater and surface water, and in turn have a negative impact on human health. The chemical composition and content of landfill leachate can vary greatly between landfill sites.

[custom-features]
Leachate applications which consists of low characteristics and volume allow for easier treatment at a greater degree of the overall volume. Certain leachate sites are at higher volumes and characteristics, which increases the need for more treatment systems to sufficiently remove unwanted contaminants. These systems might include processes for leachate water treatment, such as:
- Ion Exchange Systems
- Water Media Filters
- Wastewater Treatment
- Ultrafiltration
- Hotel & Resorts
- Ozonation
- Treated Landfill Wastewater
- Activated Carbon Filters
- Reverse Osmosis systems
- Evaporation
- Sewage Treatment
Our standard leachate water treatment process works by utilizing RO and UF systems to reject water and send them to the evaporators. If you need to learn more about the workings of our leachate water treatment systems, then please contact our team today for a free quote!

[custom-usage]
Pure Aqua delivers systems that provide great advantages in delivering unmatched leachate water treatment in various applications. For instance, our systems utilize some advanced technologies which include, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, MBR for wastewater treatment, and UV disinfection systems. If it is more difficult to remove biological components that linger in the wastewater, then ozonation and activated carbon filtration are necessary to eradicate these pollutants. While these processes can be employed as separate treatment options, they are also utilized in conjunction with each other.
